Pumping Tips

First remember that you are entering a new adventure so allow yourself the time to adjust. Many new pumpers relate the experience to being diagnosed all over again. There are lots of adjustments and things to learn but you are on your way to a world of better control and a renewed life of flexibility you may have thought you lost forever. One thing is for sure your Journey to pumping will be well worth the effort.

Look who's pumping with Pump Wear Inc.
	Ben will be two on the 26th of Dec. He loves Thomas the Tank Engine and Toy Story. He was diagnosed at the age of 7 months in August 2004 and has been pumping since Feb ’05. He is currently the youngest pumper in Ireland. His favorite things to do are building Lego and playing rugby with his Daddy. He pays no attention to the pump (Thank God) and chooses which finger he wants us to test!!! He is our little angel and we are so proud of him. He copes better than we do!!!
	Preston is 4 years old and enjoys swimming, playing t-ball. Loves to play tag with brothers, Gregory 6 and Joshua 3. Preston was diagnosed at 12 ½ months old. He loves his Camo Pump Wear. He never complains. He is our hero. He also loves to play with his 2 dogs, 2 cats and 6 hermit crabs!
	My daughter Hailey is 4 years old and has been a diabetic since she was 18 months old. Hailey will start Soccer this August and has been taking dance classes to stay active. She has been on the insulin pump since April of 2004. We are still trying to adjust everything, but she loves her pump so much better then getting shots all day. She loves her monogramed hot pink pump pack!! Thank you so much for trying to make things easier for our kids.
	Kennan is a happy and playful little boy who just had his fourth birthday this weekend!  He is a terrific big brother and kind friend.  He enjoys bike riding, skateboarding, playing in water, doing puzzles and painting.  Kennan has had Diabetes since 10 months of age so hasn't known any other way of life.  He was predisposed because his daddy, grandfather and great grandmother all have Type 1 Diabetes.  Kennan and his daddy are the only two pumping and we are all looking forward to the new sensor technology so they must not endure all the pokes and of course a cure!  His own skateboard pak sure made the transition to a pump easier for him!  Thank you Pump Wear Inc.
	Fortune is 7½ years old from New York .  Fortune loves gymnastics and will be on a pre-team next year.  Fortune loves to draw and is a very good artist.  In the summer Fortune loves to swim and she is getting very good at Chinese jump rope.
	Rene is 7 years old from Utah and has been pumping for almost 2 years, Rene plays soccer and is involved in "Up With Kids" Musical Theatre, Creative Dance and Violin.  She loves reading chapter series books, swimming, riding her bicycle, hiking and camping.  She likes Unicorns, Fairy Crafts and planning parties.
